Donald Trump – Accept Him Or Not?

“Donald Trump is not my president” “Everybody needs to accept that Trump” “You all just need to deal with it”

This is the sign of the times that we are living in, we are in the midst of what it looks like to be the most polarizing presidential term in history. There is so much emotion in play here and a lot of finger pointing and division that it has been an ugly scene. A problem I am having personally is from the Trump supporters telling their opposition that they just need to accept the fact Trump is president.

The view needs to change on both sides so we can all get past the rage of the situation. We need to come to common ground understanding what is reality, and that is that Donald Trump by the math of the electoral college was elected president and he is the person holding office. There does not need to be tolerance of his stance on issues, his philosophy of what a leader should be and so on just like John Boehner couldn’t handle the fact Barack Obama held the presidency and he vowed if the Republicans took control of the House in 2012 that there would essentially be a business gridlock claiming “We’re going to do everything — and I mean everything we can do — to kill it, stop it, slow it down, whatever we can.” On the other hand upon Barack Obama’s first term Mitch McConnell stated “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” I have no problem with McConnell’s quote because there is no interruption being threatened because his guy isn’t in office he is merely stating the fact he is going to do his thing to have his preferred candidate win the election 4 years from then, the waters could get cloudy if unethical means would have been employed to accomplish this but the words in of themselves are free  and are just that thoughts, no action. Look at Boehner’s quote this is a statement of impending action and something that could potentially cause harm to everybody including those who opposed President Obama by halting government business being posed by the president.

For those who are stating opposition needs to tolerate or accept the results of this election need to take a step back as you are directly trying to silence a group whose rights are protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. I am not a supporter of Trump but I want to sit back and watch how all of this unfolds and if there is any sign of bullshit based on facts then I will call it out. There was a lot of fake news that was being published by both sides during the election and we need to find a way to understand what is real. For those who oppose Trump, stick to facts and stick to quotes. Trump loves to hear himself talk and will provide all of us no shortage of content to call him out on. Let the millions of supporters who have been entertained by him over the years have their moment. History will be the ultimate story teller.
